To ensure the indoor air quality and solve the problem of heating outdoor air in severe cold zone, a novel outdoor air handling unit with air-source heat pump is proposed, which mixes indoor return air and outdoor air to increase the temperature of outdoor air, and then uses the indoor side heat exchanger of the air-source heat pump to heat the mixed air. The system form, operation performance and energy-saving performance of the outdoor air handling unit are analysed through experimental and theoretical methods based on the meteorological parameters in Harbin in winter. The results show that the outdoor air unit could operate stably under the premise of ensuring the supply air temperature and the outdoor air rate. The COP remains around 3.0 and its maximum value reaches 4.3 during the test period. These indicate that the experimental unit has good performances in energy-saving and environmental protection.
